Frequently asked questions
We know you have questions, and we're here to provide clear answers. Our goal at Tanglewood Kennels is to ensure you feel completely confident and informed before entrusting your beloved companion to our care. Below are some of the most common inquiries we receive, designed to put your mind at ease.
Should I bring my own food?
We encourage you bring your own food if you prefer to keep your dog on a stable diet, but we also have different types of food here such as chicken and rice kibble, lamb and rice kibble, sensitive stomach kibble and a variety of wet food at no extra charge.
How long are playtimes?
Usually playtimes last 15-20 minutes. Depending on your dog's energy levels you can do them once a day, twice a day, every other day, or a specific total amount.
Can I bring my own beds, blankets, and toys?
Yes, any comfort items such as blankets, toys, or beds are allowed. However, keep in mind that beds will have to be small enough to fit in a standard washing machine or have a removable cover. You don't need to bring your own stuff though if you don't want to, we have plenty of blankets, toys, treats, and food bowls that we would love to share with our furry friends.
Can you send me pictures of my dog?
Of course! If you want us to send some pictures while your away we can email or text them to you upon request.
Is there someone there overnight?
No one works an overnight shift, but the owner (Lori Turek) lives on the property so she is always just a few feet away if needed.
How big is each kennel?
Each kennel measures approximately 5x4 indoor and 5x11 outdoor with a guillotine door connecting the two, providing ample room for them to stand, stretch, and relax. We also have two slightly larger kennels for bigger breeds or siblings who want to be boarded together, those measure approximately 5x5 indoor and 5x11 outdoor.
What are some common worries pet owners have when thinking about boarding their dog, and how do you help put their minds at ease?
We understand that leaving your dog can be stressful. Common worries include separation anxiety, safety, and receiving enough attention. As we get to know everyone each and every dog starts to feel like family and our team is trained to recognize and address any signs of stress, ensuring a happy and calm experience.
Is there anything really important or a specific rule you want every customer to know before their dog comes to stay with you?
Absolutely! The most crucial rule for the health and safety of all our guests is that all vaccinations must be up to date. This includes Distemper, Rabies, Influenza, Bordetella (within 6 months), and a Fecal test (within 6 months). We require proof of current vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian before your dog's stay with us. If you let us know which vet you go to we can give them a call and have them send it to us directly or you can email it to us. This policy ensures a healthy environment for every dog under our care.
